The Warrensburg City Council recently named the city’s community development director and fire chief as an interim city management team following the resignation of the city manager.
Community Development Director Barbara Carroll and Fire Chief Jim Kushner will assume additional administrative responsibilities while continuing to serve as the directors of their departments, according to a news release. Kushner has been with the city for 35 years and Carroll for 16 years.
The City Council hired an executive search agency to find a new city manager. City Manager Paula Hertwig Hopkins, who has served the city since January 2012, is leaving in mid-April to serve with the Lutheran Church in Uganda, according to the news release.
“Paula has served the city well, and City Council believes Barbara and Jim will do the same as council finds a new city manager,” Mayor Donna DeFrain said in a written statement.
