Three University of Central Missouri art and design majors were presented the annual MMA Dorothy Hawksley Emerging Artist Award at the Mid-Missouri Artists Citation Awards assembly on Thursday, which is held in the UCM gallery of art and design. Each student received a cash award and a certificate of recognition.
Scholarship recipients are selected by the MMA Scholarship Selection Committee based on work presented by the students in the awards show.
Rebecca Limback, presented the awards to this year’s recipients: John W. Williams, graphic design/illustration major from Lowry City; Brady Stoehr, painting/illustration major from Bates City; and Larissa Chaves, a graphic design major from Olathe, Ks.
Stoehr was awarded first place in the Citation Awards. Chaves was awarded fourth.
MMA awards are presented in memory of Dorothy Hawksley who initiated starting the scholarship prior to her death.
