Mo. House speaker traveling state to tout agenda

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., AP) — Missouri House Speaker Tim Jones is traveling across southern Missouri touting his agenda for the legislative session that starts Wednesday.
Jones wants to focus on economic growth, education, energy and what he describes as “protecting Missouri values.”
The Republican House speaker plans to pursue an income tax cut and a “right to work” bill that would prohibit union fees from being a condition of employment.
Jones says he also will back a moratorium in the tax-break battle between Missouri and Kansas to lure businesses across the state line in the Kansas City area.
His “values” agenda includes measures that he said will protect life, property rights and the Second Amendment.
Jones kicked off his tour Thursday. He plans to continue it over the weekend and on Monday.
