Two men die in crash near UCM

(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) – Two people were killed and a third person was seriously injured early Saturday morning after the car in which they were riding struck a tree near the University of Central Missouri Fraternity Complex.
Joe E. Parks, 18, of Champaign, Ill., and Saul E. Solis, 22, of Kansas City, Mo., died in the crash, which was reported at 1:45 a.m. Saturday at South Washington Street and Greenwood Circle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
Monique Y. Hardy, 22, of Independence, who is listed in the school directly as a UCM student, was flown to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
The accident occurred as Solis was driving southbound on South Washington Street at a high rate of speed, crested a hill, lost control and crashed into a tree at Greenwood Circle, according to the Highway Patrol report.
Solis was the only occupant who was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
