Warrensburg High School softball falls to Excelsior Springs

(Excelsior Springs, Mo.) — Hunter Atkins did all she could to give the Lady Tigers a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Excelsior Springs, as Warrensburg lost 5-2 in seven innings on Wednesday, according to a press release.
Atkins racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lady Tigers. She singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.
“We didn’t play well,” Coach Hultman said following the loss. “Give it to Excelsior they did the things they needed to do to get the win. But our pitching staff allowed free passes to runners and that hurt. Our approach at the plate was awful. Out of 21 outs we hit 10 fly ball outs. Not a lot of teams are going to win many games performing like that.”
