(ST. LOUIS, AP) — A St. Louis-based environmental group is suing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over what it calls the agency’s failure to release public records related to a planned Midwest oil pipeline.
The Missouri Coalition for the Environment sued the Army Corps on Friday in federal district court in Washington, D.C. The group is represented by the Great Rivers Environmental Law Center, also of St. Louis.
The coalition says it was improperly denied records sought under the federal Freedom of Information Act about Canadian company Enbridge’s plan to build a 600-mile oil pipeline from Illinois to Oklahoma.
Construction is already underway after Enbridge received an expedited permit review by the Army Corps.
Calls to the federal agency’s St. Louis and Washington office were not returned Monday afternoon.
