Volunteers help rebuild central Mo. church

(CALIFORNIA, Mo., AP) — A new church is rising in central Missouri to replace a 134-year-old house of worship destroyed by fire last Thanksgiving.
And much of the work in the town of California is being done by volunteers from west-central Missouri who have made it their mission to build one church every year.
Flag Spring Baptist Church in California burned to the ground Thanksgiving morning after serving the community since 1879.
Pastor Ken Chapman tells KOMU-TV (http://bit.ly/13aeahQ) says volunteers from First Baptist Church in Hermitage called him shortly after the fire offering their help.
More than 70 volunteers arrived Monday and were on track to have Flag Spring rebuilt before the weekend.
Volunteer coordinator Terry Cable says the Hermitage group has built a church every year for the past nine years.
