Candidates are now running for president and vice president of the Student Government Association after Luke Hawley and Orie Hemme have ran unopposed over the past two years.
There are three candidates running for president: DaVonte Hair, Courtney Abt and Nicholas Hutsell.
The two candidates for vice president are: Timothy Peterson, running with Hair, and Cole Fine, running with Abt.
All of the candidates presented their platforms in a debate hosted by SGA on Tuesday evening in the Elliott Student Union.
Abt is a graduate student getting her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. She joined SGA her freshman year and has been on the University Issues committee since. Two years ago, she was nominated as the chair of the committee and is still standing as that role today.
Hair is a sophomore public relations major with a minor in military science. Hair said he was involved with SGA his freshman year of college. He is an ROTC cadet and wants to go active duty after college, then get into politics and try to become president of the United States.
Hutsell is a junior history major minoring in English and political science. He was a sophomore senator in SGA and was involved in the SGA committees.
Voting days are April 3 and 4 at tables in the Elliott Student Union and James K. Kirkpatrick Library 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Or vote on the UCM website 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
