(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) –
Jennies bowling notches top 10 finish at Arkansas state midwinter classic
In their first tournament of the year, the Jennies were able to finish 10th out of 20 teams. Over three days, the Jennies went 5-8 and totaled 12,978 pins.
The final day of the tournament saw teams compete in best of seven matches. In their first match, the Jennies faced the Maryville Saints in a series that went all seven games. After going up 2-0, the Jennies lost control and found themselves in a deciding game seven, which they won 201-184.
Their next matchup was another seven-game affair with Alabama-Birmingham where the Jennies again went up 2-0, but saw the lead disappear. UAB was able to clinch the series with a 238-183 win.
The Jennies will be in action again Feb. 9-11 at the Elmhurst/Valparaiso Crusader Classic.
Mules wrestling nine dual road trip ends in St. Louis
In the midst of a four-dual losing streak, the Mules will take on the Maryville Saints Jan. 17 in St. Louis. This will conclude a nine-dual road trip that has seen the Mules record only one dual victory.
Following their victory over Newman on Jan. 9, the Mules fell to Central Oklahoma and went 0-3 in the University of Nebraska-Kearney Duals. Despite not collecting a win at UNK, six grapplers were able to earn multiple wins with redshirt freshman Dominique Hampton going 3-0 and improving to 14-10 on the season.
After the matchup with Maryville, the Mules will return to Warrensburg for their first home action of the season. The Roger Denker Open is slated to take place at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 in the UCM Multipurpose Building.
UCM basketball to host youth and school day Feb. 3
Mules and Jennies basketball has announced that their annual ‘Youth Day’ and ‘School Day’ will take place on Feb. 3 when they play the Northeastern State Riverhawks. Area youth groups and schools are invited to come to the game and cheer on UCM. Tip-off for the Jennies is set for 1:30 p.m. with the Mules set to follow.
