Man dies in Kansas City fire

(KANSAS CITY, Mo., AP) — A Kansas City man has died after a fire at his home in south Kansas City.
Fire officials say the fire was reported early Tuesday. They say the victim was an 80-year-old man but his name has not been released. His body was found in a hallway near a bedroom.
Fire officials say the blaze started near the back of the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Investigators say the house did not have any working smoke detectors. KSHB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/SSwnva ) firefighters will be in the neighborhood later handing out smoke detectors to neighbors.
