(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The Old Drum Gallery and Trading Co. is hosting a photography art show from Nov. 2-28 in support of the Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
Pete Zwally, of Warrensburg, is coordinating the show in honor of his late son, Pete Zwally, who was a photographer, and also in honor of his late wife who lost her battle with ovarian cancer. His son left a legacy of photos and his father will donate the proceeds of the sales to the Vicky Welsh Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
The public is invited to the opening reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at the Old Drum Gallery and Trading Co., 128 N. Holden St. in downtown Warrensburg.
The gallery will stay open that evening until 9 p.m. in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk.
Pete Zwally was a young photographer working in the St. Louis area as a freelance artist, according to a news release. He completed his bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He created many pieces on the surrounding St. Louis area as well as a number of pieces from the rural life in the rolling hills of southern Illinois. He also traveled extensively and worked as a photo assistant for a number of well-known photographers in the St. Louis area.
He specialized in the use of a simple aero camera, using a technique of blurred focusing to create his own style of art that can be seen in his many floral compositions.
