Warner to compete at outdoor national championships

Central Missouri’s Heavin Warner has qualified and will be competing at the USA Track and Field Outdoor National Championships June 25-28 at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., at the campus of the University of Oregon.
Warner helped lead the Jennies to their first NCAA Outdoor Championship as she won the hammer throw for the second consecutive year.
Warner currently has the 12th best mark in the nation in the hammer throw at 67.24m (220-7). That throw came back in April at the Mule Relays and set a new Division II record.
Warner, a two-time NCAA Champion and five-time All-American, will be the first Central Missouri athlete to compete at the track and field national meet since Lindsey Lettow in 2012. Lettow will also be competing this year in the heptathlon. She is currently ranked 11th in the event.
In addition to Warner, assistant coach Kurtis Brondyke will be competing in his second USA National Championship in the decathlon. In 2014, Brondyke finished 10th in the event scoring 7,416 points. He is currently ranked 11th in the nation with a personal-best score of 7,689.
The hammer throw takes place on day three of the championships at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The multi-events will be competed over the first two days of the event, June 25-26.
