Turk to again take on Cleaver in 5th District

(KANSAS CITY, Mo., AP) — A Lee’s Summit Republican who has lost his previous four efforts to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City will get a fifth chance.

Jacob Turk topped a four-candidate field in Tuesday’s GOP primary.
Turk’s closest loss was in 2010, when he got 44 percent of the vote compared to Cleaver’s 53 percent. The district was redrawn after the 2010 census to include more likely Democratic voters.
Cleaver, a 10-year incumbent, cruised past four other Democrats in that party’s primary race.
