Motorsports are pulling into the State Fair

(SEDALIA, Mo.) – The 112th Missouri State Fair will feature a variety of motorsports action, featuring the Missouri Association Championship Truck and Tractor Pull.
The qualifying event for the truck and tractor pull will be held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10, with finals held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11.
Tickets to the Pepsi Grandstand series and State Fair Arena events can be purchased at the State Fair Box Office, which is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 6, and daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 7-17.
Tickets for the 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. pulls are $12 for adults and $5 for ages 6-12. Tickets for the 7 p.m. pulls are $15 for adults and $6 for ages 6-12. An all-day pass is available at a cost of $20 for adults and $9 for ages 6-12. Both pulls are free for children ages 5 and under.
Also featured in the Pepsi Grandstand this year will be the new Missouri State Fair Protect the Harvest Summer Nationals Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, starting at 5 p.m. Aug. 17. General admission tickets are $25 and free for ages 5 and under. Tickets to this event are also available at the State Fair Box Office.
“This pull is known as an American competition that is a combination of sheer horsepower and driver skill,” said Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe.
There will be eight vehicle classes, from four engines with more than 5,000-plus horsepower tractors to flame-throwing, jet-turbine-powered semitrucks.
Additional tractor pulls will be offered at the State Fair Arena this year, including the Antique, Classic and Farm Tractor Pull at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13; the Garden and Mini Rod Pull at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14; and the Missouri Stock Antique-Classic Tractor Pullers Association at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14. There is no event admission charge for these pulls.
Other motorsports action featured at the State Fair Arena will include the Motocross Final Championship Round of the MO Fair Cross Series at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11. Tickets are $7; Flat Track TT Race is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, and tickets are $7; and a demolition derby is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for ages 6-12. These events are free for children age 5 and under.
A Pedal Pull, sponsored by Sydenstrickers, will begin its “Last Chance” Pull at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall, and the State Championships will begin at noon. Registration for the Pedal Pulls will begin at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. The top three finishers in each age group will qualify for the National Pedal Pull on Sept. 20, in Mitchell, S.D.
