Something to Eat campaign assembles food packages

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — Christian Campus House, a student-focused Christian group at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, recently hosted the event Something to Eat, putting together nearly 4,000 packages for people in need.
Volunteers at the event, which took place April 21-25, assembled 3,852 packages of 23,112 meals to be sent to places like the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Nicaragua. The supplies were provided to CCH by Youthfront, a nonprofit organization in Kansas City, Mo.
“I found it to be very interesting and rewarding to help out with Something to Eat,” said Mattie Bollin, a student volunteer. “It’s amazing how only $1.50 feeds six people. I thought it was neat to see first-hand how much UCM helped out the poverty-stricken people”
In spring 2013, the UCM campus and Warrensburg community assembled 4,367 packages of food, making 32,634 meals.
Among the student groups that participated were Speech and Debate, Mules wrestling, UCM Cheerleading and numerous chapters in UCM Greek Life.
