(MARYVILLE, Mo., AP) — An Ohio-based golf foundation is giving $250,000 toward a Tom Watson-designed junior golf course in northwest Missouri targeting youths and beginning golfers.
The Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation announced last week it was becoming a partner in the Tom Watson Junior Golf Course at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park in Maryville.
The partnership will provide discounted resources for construction of the course, which will just north of Mozingo Golf Course clubhouse.
The estimated cost of construction is $521,000, and the Wadsworth contribution raises the current amount raised to $415,000.
The donation is part of the foundation’s Links Across America initiative, established to create feeder short courses for young people, families, beginners and people with disabilities.
Construction on the course is expected to start next year, with projected completion sometime in 2015.
