(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — Not much went the Warrensburg Lady Tigers way on Monday night. Not until the very end did it start to turn, when the Lady Tigers found a way to best Clinton, 5-4, from a walk-off hit in the seventh inning, according to a press release.
The Lady Tigers went into the bottom of the seventh inning down by three runs. Three hits, an error, and a fielder’s choice later, two runners were in scoring position, with two outs, and the score 4-3. WHS senior Mataya Lowry came to the plate and drove a single to right center field. Both runners scored and Warrensburg came away with the victory.
Brittany Marr delivered five strong innings on the mound. Lowry came in during the sixth inning and pitched two scoreless innings, tallying the win along the way.
“Great game. That is a great team over there and honestly they out played us,” Coach Hultman said after the game. “But I am so proud of my girls. They stayed in the game and knew they had a chance till the very end. They had some quality at bats in the seventh. Then obviously Mataya with the big hit just capped off a great come back and great win.”
