Soccer Jennies earn fifth win of season

(TOPEKA, Kan.) — The No. 14 ranked Jennies soccer team (5-1-1) blanked Washburn by a 3-0 count, providing head coach Lewis Theobald with his 100th victory at the helm of the UCM program, according to a press release.
In the 10th minute, the Jennies struck first on a free kick by Emily Eldridge from 45 yards left that richocheted off the right post and hit the back of the net.
Central Missouri doubled its lead over the Ichabods in the 55th minute when Abby Rhodes found  Hannah Pyle on a throw in from the right side who knocked it in from five yards out for her second goal this year.
Nearly three minutes later, Nicole Pond found the back of Washburn’s net off multiple deflections from 10 yards out to bump the tally to 3-0 in favor of the Jennies.
Goalkeeper Morgan Hartzler recorded the win to improve to 5-1-1. She played 66:05 without recording a save before giving way to Jessica Grindstaff.
Central Missouri outshot Washburn 14-9 while allowing just one shot on goal.
The Jennies will travel to Emporia, Kansas to play the Hornets on Sunday, September 29 at 2 p.m.
