Soccer Jennies chalk up first win of season

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — The 24th-ranked Jennies Soccer team notched their first win of the season with a 5-2 win over the University of Mary on Thursday night at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex. The Jens broke a halftime tie with three second half goals to earn the win.
Hannah Moran got the scoring started for UCM (1-1-1) with a goal in the eighth minute off an assist from Becky Lackey, according to a press release. Less than 20 seconds later Hannah Pyle got in on the action scoring an unassisted goal on a breakaway.
The Marauders (0-2-1) bounced right back. Zara O’Hagen got Mary on the board in the 18th minute on an assist from Megan Searson and Alex Bachman-Wiliams tied the game in the 22nd minute off an assist from Dayna Domingo.
The Jennies took the lead for good when Becky Lackey notched her first goal of the season right after halftime in teh 48th minute. Moran scored her second goal of the game in the 57th minute on an assist from Lackey as she chipped it over the keeper’s head to put UCM in front 4-2.
Lackey finished the scoring in the 79th minute with her second goal of the game off an assist from Abby Rhodes to give UCM the 5-2 advantage.
Morgan Hartzler earned the win in net for the Jennies coming up with two saves on the night.
The Jennies are back in action on Saturday afternoon hosting Minot State at 1 p.m. at Jennies Field.
