Fair opening day ceremony set for Thursday

(SEDALIA, Mo.) — Missouri Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler will be the keynote speaker Thursday during the opening day ceremony for the Missouri State Fair.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the MFA Youth Livestock Arena north of the historic Coliseum.
The MFA Youth Livestock Arena is adjacent to the historic Coliseum and is connected to the original arena by a breezeway. The arena was completed in time for the 4-H and FFA Horse Show in July and was made possible by the MFA Foundation, MFA Incorporated Foundation, MFA Oil Foundation and the Missouri Development Finance Board, according to a news release.
Representatives from these groups, along with other donors, will be recognized during the ceremony and ribbon cutting.
Those scheduled to attend the ceremony are: Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe, Missouri Director of Tourism Katie Steele Danner, state Sen. Mike Parson; state Rep. Stanley Cox, Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn, Missouri State Fair Queen Emily Wood, members of the Missouri State Fair Commission and Missouri State Fair Foundation, and Missouri FFA and 4-H officers.
