Just a quick walk from campus, the downtown area of Warrensburg offers a wide variety of businesses. This month’s Downtown Highlight will focus on establishments specializing in clothing.
Three stores offer cost-effective clothing: Those Were the Days, RISE Racks Thrift Store, and Revival Clothing and Decor.
Those Were the Days
Those Were The Days has been in business for over 20 years and has become considered a staple in the community. The sprawling, three-story building houses everything from decorations and historical pieces to clothing.
“We sell everything, including the kitchen sink,” says June Durand, Store Manager. “We have clothing, knick-knacks, books. We rival a lot of bookstores and libraries. We have furniture, mattresses, bedding, you name it. If you need it in your house, we probably have it. Or your apartment or your room.”
Those Were The Days is located at 138 W Pine St. and their hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
RISE Racks
RISE Racks is a new face to the downtown area, replacing what was previously a Salvation Army store. RISE Racks is a non-profit, disabled-owned retail store featuring thrifted clothing items and other donations from the community. All proceeds go back to the RISE program, whose goal is to help disabled individuals train and gain employment. In addition to providing a sense of community, RISE Racks also has quite a few discounts for the thrifty shopper.
“We have 50% off seniors every second weekend, 10% off for all UCM students daily, 10% off for veterans/military, seasonal sales at 50% to 75% off, specific colors for $0.25 or $1 tag every six weeks,” says Brandy Enriquez, Vocational Employment Manager.
RISE Racks is located at 125 N Holden St. and their hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Revival Clothing and Decor
Revival Clothing and Decor is a women’s fashion boutique and vintage decor store. The store offers clothing from misses to plus size, in addition to vinyls, books and accessories. Along with their physical store location, they also have an online store at revivalclothinganddecor.com.
“At Revival Clothing & Decor, we do our best to keep costs affordable. Our priority isn’t maximizing profit, it’s making sure our customers can find something that makes them feel confident and happy,” says owner Jennie Snapp. “…Revival is meant to be a place of joy, comfort, and connection, where you not only find something you love but also leave knowing you’ve made a new friend. And as a small business, we’re always grateful when you share your experience and spread the word!”
Revival Clothing and Decor is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays at 103 S Holden St.
