Snowfall and Temperatures Below Zero Expected

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Warrensburg, with 4-8 inches of snow expected.

A major winter storm is set to hit Warrensburg tonight, bringing heavy snow and dangerously low temperatures that may impact class schedules at the University of Central Missouri.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, now in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 3 a.m. CST Wednesday, with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected across central Missouri. Travel could be tricky, especially for the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, as temperatures are forecast to drop to 4°F overnight with wind chills near -10°F.

UCM officials have not yet announced a campus closure but students are encouraged to check their UCM email, the university website and official social media pages for any updates. Those who live off-campus should plan for potentially slippery roads and all students are advised to take precautions and stay safe.

UCM Delays Campus Opening Until 10 A.M. Wednesday Due to Winter Weather

The University of Central Missouri’s Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit campuses will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, due to hazardous winter weather conditions. University crews will work to clear parking lots and walkways, but students and staff should remain cautious as local roads may still be slick.

All in-person classes scheduled before 10 a.m. are canceled, while online courses will continue as scheduled. Students should check Blackboard or Brightspace for updates from faculty regarding alternative assignments.

Adjusted Campus Operations:

Shuttle Service: First departure from JCK Library at 10:50 a.m.
Childcare: Opens at 9:30 a.m.
Elliott Student Union, JCK Library, Student Recreation and Wellness Center: Open at 10 a.m.
University Store: Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dining Services:
- Ellis and Todd Dining Centers: Regular hours, limited breakfast menu.
- Starbucks (Union & The Crossing), Einstein Bros. (SRWC & Library), The Grid: Open at 10 a.m.
- Traditions: Open 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Taco Bell, CRU5H, Chick-fil-A: Regular hours.

The university continues to monitor weather conditions through the National Weather Service and will provide updates if further changes to operations are needed. Students and staff are encouraged to stay informed through UCM’s website, social media, TextCaster, and email notifications.

UCM Closes Campus Due to Winter Storm

As of 10 p.m. CST, the University of Central Missouri has announced that all in-person classes at the Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit campuses will be canceled on Tuesday the 18th, due to inclement weather. Only weather-essential personnel should report to work.

With 4 to 8 inches of snow expected and temperatures dropping to dangerous levels, university crews will be working to clear parking lots and walkways. However, many county roads and local streets may still be slick, so students and staff are advised to use caution.

Key updates regarding campus operations:

Online classes will continue as scheduled. Students in in-person courses should check Blackboard or Brightspace for updates from faculty about alternative assignments.
The shuttle schedule is canceled for the day.
The following facilities will be closed:
- Elliott Student Union
- JCK Library
- University Store
- Foster Knox Childcare Center
The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
UCM Dining by Sodexo will operate on a modified schedule:
- Ellis Dining Center and Todd Dining Center will follow weekend hours: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. & 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
- The following locations will be closed: Taco Bell, CRU5H, Chick-fil-A, The Grid, Traditions, Starbucks (both locations), and Einstein Bros. (SRWC and JCK Library).
