The UCM Mules (10-15, 5-11 in MIAA) sent their fans home happy after defeating the Lincoln Blue Tigers 69-62 Tuesday night at the UCM Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg. This was the final regular season home game for the Mules.
The Mules and Blue Tigers were neck and neck for most of the contest as there were 16 lead changes with 13 ties. The UCM offense was fueled by Matt Wilkinson who dropped 13 points in the first half. At halftime, the game was tied up 32-32.
Despite a hot start by Lincoln in the second half, the Mules were able to keep pace with the Blue Tigers. UCM’s Kendale Hampton helped spark the Mules second half offense with three made three pointers. With 1:25 left to play, a technical foul was called on Lincoln’s Cameron Potts which sent Wilkinson to the line where he capitalized on both free throws to put the Mules up 64-62. UCM went on to defeat the Blue Tigers 69-62.
Wilkinson finished the game with a career high of 24 points including a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. Hampton added his second double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Garrett Luinstra scored a career high of 13 points. DeAndre Sorrells dished out four assists while Gaven Pinkley blocked three Lincoln shots.
