Mules baseball (18-9, 10-5 MIAA) scored 23 runs over its three-game series with the Washburn Ichabods over the weekend, including a 9-1 win in the decisive third game Sunday at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules took game one of the series Friday 9-2 but dropped Saturday’s game 8-7. In the rubber match, the Mules got on the board early with two runs in the second inning from a single off the bat of first baseman, Cole Taylor. Centerfielder Mason Janvrin drove in the second run on a single after drawing a full count.
Mules starter Mason Green struck out eight Ichabods over seven innings of work and allowed one run on three hits. Jonathan Sprinkle threw two innings in relief, facing the minimum six batters and striking out four.
Second baseman Donovan Ditto went 3-5 and knocked in four RBIs. Taylor picked up two more RBIs on a single in the sixth inning and finished 2-4.
The Mules hit the road this weekend for a three-game series with Pittsburg State (13-13, 7-8 MIAA) at Al Ortolani Field in Pittsburg, Kansas. Game one is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday with game two scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The final game is scheduled for noon Sunday.
