Jennies bowling got the 2018-19 season started over the weekend at the Newman Mid-States Classic in Wichita, Kansas.
The Jennies took sixth place out of 27 teams over the two-day competition and placed two individual bowlers in the top-20.
Central Missouri went 6-0 in pool play on Day One of the event, defeating Morningside, Lincoln and Kansas Wesleyan twice each. Day Two saw the Jennies go 3-2 in the Baker format with two wins against Louisiana-Lafayette and one over Kansas State.
The Jennies faced Wichita State in a best-of-five match in the quarterfinals. The Shockers dropped the first game, but won the next two. Down 2-1, the Jennies forced a deciding game five in a 213-211 win. The Shockers responded in game five and eliminated the Jennies 182-170.
Sophomore Paytynn Kuhns picked up a top-10 finish, taking sixth with an average game score of 193. Sophomore Jacqueline Garcia-Ulloa finished in 20th place totaling 1,087 pins and averaging 181.
The Jennies are back in action this weekend for the McKendree Bearcat Invitational. The three-day event runs Friday-Sunday and will be held at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
