No. 17 Jennies soccer will face its toughest challenge so far this season when it hits the road for two matchups with Northeastern State and No. 16 Central Oklahoma.
Sophomore forward Makayla Toth attacks the Griffons defense in the Jennies 2-2 draw with Missouri Western Sunday at South Recreational Complex. Toth has scored five goals and added six assists this season.
Central Missouri dropped nine spots in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll following a 2-2 draw with Missouri Western on Sunday. The Jennies jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from seniors Courtney Killian and Jada Scott, but the Griffons scored two of their own to force extra time where neither team was able to score. The Jennies finished the match on an 80-minute scoring drought.
Scott’s goal marks her 10th of the season, good for second highest in the MIAA and seventh in the NCAA. Killian continues to raise her season-high goal total with six in 10 games, previously her season-high was four goals in 19 games.
The Riverhawks have not enjoyed the same success that saw them finish second in the MIAA last season sitting at 0-3 in the conference and 6-4 overall after opening the season 5-0. All four of the Riverhawks losses have been by one goal.
The Bronchos are one of five unbeaten teams in the rankings with a 10-0 record and have shut out all but two teams so far this season. The Bronchos are capable on both sides of the field, ranking ninth in the NCAA in scoring offense at 3.3 goals per game and second in goals-against average with .200.
The Jennies matchup with Northeastern State is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Friday in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. They will then face Central Oklahoma with a scheduled kickoff of 1 p.m. Sunday in Edmond, Oklahoma.
