Jennies golf competed in the Mustang Invitational at Marshall Golf Club in Marshall, Minnesota, over the weekend.
The Jennies started the second day of the tournament in second place but were able to use a strong final round to jump into first place. By the end of the day, Central Missouri had won convincingly by nine strokes over Augustana and Minnesota State-Mankato, who tied for second.
In addition to taking the team title, two Jennies golfers finished atop the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Olivia Sobaski took first place, lowering her first-round score by four strokes and finishing 2-over-par. Junior Elizabeth Leath finished behind her teammate in second shooting 3-over-par.
The tournament win marks the third in Jennies golf history. The Jennies have also won a tournament in each of the last three years.
The Jennies will be in action again Oct. 7-8 at the Midwest Classic, hosted by Northwest Missouri State at the Mozingo Lake Golf Club in Maryville, Missouri.
