Jennies soccer ranked first in national poll
Jennies soccer opens their season as defending national champions ranked first in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
The Jennies return 19 players from last season’s 26-0 team while welcoming nine newcomers to the squad. In addition to being defending national champions, the Jennies will have their eyes on a fifth consecutive MIAA championship.
Central Missouri will kick off its season Thursday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. at Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Jennies will have their first home game Sunday, Sept. 2 against Augustana at 1 p.m. at South Recreation Complex.
Jennies volleyball ranked 22nd
The American Volleyball Coaches Association released its national preseason rankings last week and the Jennies were ranked 22nd, receiving 223 points.
The Jennies finished 2017 with a 25-8 record and return five total starters and nine letter winners. Among those returning is AVCA All American starting libero Kylie Hohlen.
The Jennies are among three MIAA teams included in the rankings with Nebraska-Kearney at eighth and Central Oklahoma coming in at 16th. Central Missouri will begin its season hosting the Peggy Martin Challenge Aug. 23-25 where they will face No. 14 Arkansas Tech and No. 4 Florida Southern.
The Jennies first game is scheduled for Aug. 23 against Drury. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building.
