Starting Sunday, Jan. 28, through Saturday, April 21, the community can join the Warrensburg Wellness Challenge.
This 12-week challenge is designed to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle, according to a press release from WMMC. Participants will have access to the fitness center and classes at the Warrensburg Community Center and the UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center; have the opportunity to attend a variety of teaching kitchens; and attend wellness seminars featuring WMMC health providers, according to the press release.
Participants acquire points for a chance to win prizes, which are accumulated through active participation and attending scheduled program events. The cost to participate is $40. All challengers must attend one of the registration dates to participate and qualify for the 12-week challenge.
Registration will be held at these locations: Warrensburg Community Center, 445 E. Gay St., on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 5-7 p.m.; Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, from 5-7 p.m.; University of Central Missouri Student Recreation and Wellness Center 500 S. Maguire St., Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 5 -7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, from 5-7 p.m.; Western Missouri Medical Center 403 Burkarth Rd., Monday, Jan. 22, from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 5-7 p.m.
Registration includes a confidential InBody test to determine each person’s body composition including fat, muscle and water levels, according to the press release. Once the numbers are acquired, an Exercise Physiologist from UCM will work with each person to determine a realistic personal goal to work toward during the challenge.
Fees must be paid at time of registration through cash, check or card. Participants must be 18 or older, no later than Jan. 1, to join the challenge.
