(INDIANAPOLIS) – UCM wrestler John Feeney went 1-2 Sunday, the final day of the Midwest Classic, to place eighth for Mules Wrestling at 125 pounds. He was the lone place-winner for Central Missouri as the team finished tied for 24th in the team standings with 22 points.
Feeney finished with a 3-3 record for the Mules to earn an eighth-place finish. He started the day scoring a 18-6 major decision over Nick Dagette of North Carolina-Pembroke, but it was his lone win of the day. He was pinned in 4:19 by MIAA foe Timothy Null of Central Oklahoma and had to settle for a chance to finish seventh at 125 pounds. His final match also saw him fall via pin against Trent Piatt of Western State Colorado in 3:55.
Allan Person was the only other UCM wrestler to advance to day two, but his day was short-lived as he dropped his first match of the day. Person went 3-1 on the first day at 174 pounds and was in the consolation bracket for UCM. His only match was a tough loss as he dropped a 13-5 major decision to Colton Gonzales of Lindsey Wilson. Person finished the tournament 3-2 for the Mules.
Wisconsin-Parkside walked away with the team title scoring 137 team points over the two-day span.
The Mules return to mats Jan. 6 for the Maverick Duals hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato.
