(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – UCM hosted its annual Project Community Connect Friday in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
The charity event was held to help those in need and provide local families with essential items to keep them warm during the winter. Donations were taken for socks, hats, gloves, scarves, coats and mittens.
Those items and more were distributed and collected at this annual event. Families were eligible to receive canned goods, toilet paper, paper towels and talk with community members and volunteers from all over who were there to help out.
There were several booths and tables set up throughout the Student Recreation Center where families could stop by and learn about services offered by individual groups. Families were then instructed to go to each table, and donations were given at the end. Participants were also asked to complete an exit survey about their experience at Community Connect.
Hundreds of families and volunteers came out and supported each other. This event was planned as an opportunity to connect with the community and support those in need. UCM hosts several other events like this throughout the semester, but this was the biggest.
