The Warrensburg Parks and Recreation Department recently installed a new portable accessible ramp in the indoor pool at the Community Center.
Installation of the ADA-approved ramp means better and improved handicap and wheelchair accessibility to the pool, according to a news release.
Aquatic instructor Teena Simon worked with the parks department maintenance staff on the project. The cost to purchase the ramp was $7,000, with funding for the project provided by a $3,500 grant from West-Central Independent Living Solutions and a private donation. WILS is a nonprofit resource center that serves people of all ages, from children to seniors with disabilities in Benton, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis and Saline Counties.
