(WARRENSBURG, Mo) – Mules set UCM record in 71-22 victory over Missouri Southern on homecoming
The Mules offense overpowered Missouri Sothern’s defense Sunday at Walton Stadium Kennedy Field, putting up 726 offensive yards in the process. Their performance set the UCM record for most offensive yards in a single game.
While a brief glance of the score and offensive production suggests a merciless domination on the part of the Mules, the Mules actually trailed the Lions in the closing minutes of the first quarter 14-10. The Mules, however, scored 55 unanswered points to walk away with a victory in convincing fashion.
Devante Turner was an essential component to this spurt. The redshirt running back led the team with 133 yards rushing. He rushed for two touchdowns and had a touchdown receiving. Brook Bolles completed 15-of-25 passes and threw for 337 yards and a touchdown.
Jennies volleyball sweeps William Jewell
The Jennies had a quick match Tuesday at Multipurpose Building. They needed just three sets to defeat the William Jewel Cardinals.
Kasey Hohlen led the team with 12 kills, Audrey Fisher added 11, and Aubree Bell finished with seven. Just one week after being named Defensive Specialist of the Week, Kylie Hohlen accumulated 28 digs. Katie Carlson totaled 11 digs and Ally Offerdahl had 38 assists and nine digs.
The Jennies step back on the court against the Pittsburg State Gorillas at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Multipurpose Building. The match against the Gorillas will be the Jennies first of a three-game home stand.
The Jennies’ shutout streak is snapped
The Jennies set a MIAA record for most consecutive shutouts with 12 shutouts in a row. That streak, however, came to an end Friday as Ana Dilkes gave up her goal of the season.
The Lady Hornets proved to be sufficient competition for the Jennies as they snapped the Jennies shutout streak in just the 13th minute.  After playing from behind for the first time all season, senior defender Callie Henshaw tied the game in the 40th minute. Less than two minutes later, Abby Rhodes scored the final goal of the contest and secured the win for the Jennies.
The Jennies picked up their second victory of the weekend Sunday against the Washburn Ichabods. Senior Midfielder Baylie Edwards set the tone early with a goal in the 8th minute. Washburn became the second team this season to score on the Jennies as Emily Stauffer tied the game for the Ichabods. Mikala Modiri sealed the victory for the Jennies with a goal in the 54th minute to preserve their undefeated streak.
The Jennies will hit the road this weekend as the take on the Missouri Southern Lions and the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. The Jennies will face the Lions at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 in Joplin, Missouri, and will take on the Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in Bolivar, Missouri.
