Three-peat for Dilkes
Ana Dilkes earned MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week for the third week in a row following another pair of shut-out victories on Friday and Sunday.
Dilkes held Lindenwood scoreless on Friday during the Jennies 7-0 victory and shut-out the Northwest Bearcats 4-0 on Sunday. She totaled six saves against Lindenwood and two against Northwest. She ranks first in the MIAA with 29 saves so far this season.
The senior goalkeeper has yet to give up a goal through the Jennies’ first six games of the season and currently leads the MIAA with six shut-outs. Her shut-out against Northwest brought her career total to 49, the most in MIAA history and the second most in the NCAA Division II record books.
The Dilkes and the Jennies are set to face their toughest competition of the season in a top-25 matchup against Missouri Western. The Jennies will host No. 23 Missouri Western Griffons at 7 p.m. Sept. 23.
Jennies golf finishes second at the Golden Bear Classic
The Jennies shot a team total of 658 to place second at the Golden Bear Classic at the Edinburgh USA Golf Course in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota Sept. 17 and 18.
The team shot 328 on day-one of the tournament and 330 on the second day to finish at 82-over par, the second-best score of 13 teams in the tournament and 41 strokes behind the first place Augustana (SD).
Olivia Sobaski was the top placing Jennie at 15-over par, tying for ninth place with a final score of 158. Elizabeth Leath shot a stroke better than Maddison Grisham on day-one of the tournament, but Grishman shot a stroke better on the second day as the duo tied for 13th place with a score of 164 (+20). Taelyn Entriken shot 29-over to place 31st and Blake Betke shot 30-over to tie for 34th.
The Jennies’ next contest will take place at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville on Sept. 25 and 26 as the team takes part in the MIAA Fall Preview.
Volleyball takes three of four at Arkansas Tech Crossover
After falling in their first set, the Jennies won three straight at the Arkansas Tech Crossover in Russellville, Arkansas Sept. 14-16.
The Jennies opened the tournament by dropping a 5-set match to Arkansas Tech. The match marked Piontek’s first loss against a Great American Conference team and it was also the Jennies’ first loss against Arkansas Tech over their six meetings. Aubree Bell led the Jennies with 10 kills, Ally Offerdahl totaled 36 assists and Kylie Hohlen accumulated 18 digs.
In the following contest, the Jennies faced Alabama-Huntsville and picked up their first victory of the tournament. Although the Jennies only needed three sets to secure the win, the match was prolonged by a 33-31 Jennies victory in the first set. The opening set proved to be the highest-scoring Jennies set since 2005. Aubrey Fisher, Kasey Hohlen and Rylee Neigenfind each recorded double-digit kills. Ally Offerdahl totaled 34 assists and Kylie Hohlen had a career-high: 36 digs.
The Jennies completed their second sweep of the trip after defeating Harding in their third competition. Fisher led the team with 12 kills and Bell and Kasey Hohlen each had 10.
In their final outing at Arkansas Tech, the Jennies defeated Christian Brothers 3-1. Kylie Hohlen served up 17 digs, Ally Offerdahl led the team with 28 assists, and Kasey Hohlen hit a team-best: 11 kills.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Kasey Hohlen and Offerdahl were named to the all-tournament team.
The Jennies improve to 9-3 on the season following their trip to Arkansas Tech and are set for their first MIAA matchup in their home opener. They will return home to host the Northwest Missouri Bearcats at 6 p.m. Sept. 22.
Mules Golf ties for third at NSU Golf Classic
Mules Golf shot 284 on their third and final day of competition to tie Harding University for third place at the NSU Golf Classic in Muskogee, Oklahoma Sept. 17-19.
As a team, the Mules shot a total score of 864 to finish at 12-over par, 16 strokes behind the first-place Central Oklahoma Bronchos.
Sam Parrot and Ian Barnes each shot 2-over to tie for 14th place among the 94 individual competitors. Their total score of 815 was the best of any Mule. John Bonabora and Shayne Allan also tied each other. They shot 5-over to tie four other competitors for 23rd place. JD Pedersen tied for 60th place after shooting 13-over and Matt Hoemann tied for 64th.
Mules Golf will be back in action at the JR Watkins Invite in Winona, Minnesota Sept. 25 and 26.
