(ALLENDALE, Mich.) — The Mules golf team shot an opening round 294 and is 10-over par in a tie for third place at the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional at The Meadows Golf Club.
The top five teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships.
Alex Springer led the Mules with an even par 71 in the opening round. He is tied for seventh individually, five shots back of Brett Green, of Tiffin, who is five-under par. Travis Mays was one-over par for his round and is tied for 11th. Shayne Allan shot a four-over par 75 and is tied for 39th. Teddy Jones is one shot back of Allan at five-over par and is tied for 52nd, and Cole Dillon isĀ in a tie for 69th place at seven-over par.
Tiffin University leads the tournament at five-over par after an opening round team total of 289. Southeastern Oklahoma State is two shots back of Tiffin and three ahead of the Mules and Bellarmine in second place.
The Mules will tee off in Tuesday’s second round beginning at 12:05 p.m. on the back nine.
