The smell of coffee and baked goods filled the tiny Tranquility Shop as open mic night began Thursday, Oct. 1, in downtown Warrensburg.
Open mic night is a time for people to come together and publicly share their creative works, such as poetry, original songs and short stories. More than 20 locals gathered for open mic, filling most of the seats in the close-quartered venue, which offered a familiar feel and relaxed atmosphere.
Through inspiration from her granddaughter, Debbie Noland recreates the classic nursery rhyme “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” through the perspectives of established poets.
Henry Yeager shared his memoir, in which he discussed his childhood memories.
UCM student Ahafia Jurkiewicz-Miles shared his work by reading one of his personal pieces titled, “Ocean Dream.”
