(St. Charles, Mo.) — The No. 12 ranked Jennies soccer team closed out the 2013 regular season with a 4-0 victory at Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Jennies clinch their fourth-consecutive conference title outright and sixth in the past seven seasons.
Freshman Hannah Pyle struck the ball through the Lindenwood net in the 34th minute on an assist by Bailey Hensley to provide UCM with a 1-0 lead.
Pyle found herself on the receiving end of the Jennies second goal on a pass from Claire Richards in 66th minute – the 10th goal for the Lenexa, Kan. native this season.
In the game’s second half, UCM’s third goal came in the 69th minute when the ball deflected off of Lindenwood defender Taylor Buehne into the Lions’ net.
The Jennies put the game on ice in the 86th minute when Julie Ireland scored on an unassisted goal, her 10th this year.
Senior goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff improved to 8-1-0 with the win, recording her seventh shutout. The shutout was the team’s 10th this season and fourth consecutive to close out the regular season.
The No. 1 seeded Jennies will host Central Oklahoma at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday, November 5. First kick is slated for 4 p.m.
