(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — The No. 14 ranked Jennies soccer team extended its winning streak to four games, defeating Missouri Western, 3-0 at the South Recreation Complex on Thursday night.
The Jennies (11-2-2, 7-1-1 MIAA) and Griffons battled to a 0-0 halftime tie, but the second half belonged to Central Missouri. Kayla Hamner scored her third goal of the season breaking the scoreless tie in the 57th minute when she fired a shot off a rebound from the right side of the net, putting UCM in front, 1-0.
In the 72nd minute, Carly Stanley dished the ball out to Nicole Pond who scored on a shot in front of the net, increasing UCM’s lead to 2-0. The assist was Stanley’s seventh on the year, moving her into second place on the Jennies’ all-time assists list with 24 – one behind Kayla Shain.
12 minutes later in the 84th minute, Julie Ireland registered her seventh goal of the season, finding the back of Missouri Western’s net on a loose ball near the front of the box.
Jessica Grindstaff (5-1-0) earned her fourth shutout this season, saving four shots.
The Jennies will conclude their 2013 regular season home schedule on Saturday, October 26 at 7 p.m. for Senior Night, as they are set to host Northwest Missouri at Jennies Field.
