(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — The No. 24 Jennies soccer team came away victorious against visiting Northeastern State, 3-1 at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex on Sunday afternoon. The three goals are the most scored against Northeastern State in a game this year.
Senior Becky Lackey got the Jennies (10-2-2, 6-1-1 MIAA) on the scoreboard quickly, scoring in the third minute on an assist by Abby Rhodes, who recorded three on the day. The goal was Lackey’s fifth this season.
In the 16th minute, Rhodes found Carly Stanley on the right side of the box, beating the goalkeeper for the 2-0 lead, her fourth score on the campaign.
Hannah Pyle scored her team-leading eighth goal in the 47th minute when Rhodes found her on a cross.
Northeastern State’s (11-3-0, 5-3-0 MIAA) Renee Valcarcel scored a goal on a header off a cross in the 85th minute, pulling the RiverHawks to within 3-1.
Senior goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff recorded five saves, picking up the win to improve to 4-1-0.
The Jennies will host Missouri Western on Thursday, October 24, first kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Jennies Field.
