(EDMOND, Okla.) — The No. 24 Jennies soccer team (9-2-2, 5-1-1 MIAA) avenged their first regular season MIAA loss in four years, blanking conference foe, Central Oklahoma, 3-0 at Tom Thompson Field on Friday night.
Senior Carly Stanley found junior Samantha Wilkes who banged a header through the back of the net from 10 feet out in the 35th minute giving UCM a 1-0 lead. The goal was the first for the Shawnee Mission, Kansas native this season.
Stanley’s second assist of the night came in the 59th minute, setting up Hannah Pyle (seventh goal this season) from point-blank range in front of the Bronchos’ net, extending the lead to 2-0.
The Jennies put the game to rest in the 84th minute after Abby Rhodes scored her first goal from 20 yards out from the left side of the field, sealing the 3-0 win.
UCM senior goalkeeper Jessica Grindstaff (3-1-0) earned her third win, making two saves in the game.
The Jennies will come home to host Northeastern State on Sunday, October 20 for a 1 p.m. first kick at Jennies Field.
