Thelma Y. Marx

Thelma Y. Marx, 64, of Chilhowee, died Sunday, Feb. 24 at her home.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Pastor Sean Benson officiating. Pallbearers will be Bob Carlyle, Mike Moon, Glenvil Sullins, Jim Tivis, Tony Shepard, Bob Jennings, and Darrel Mangan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Grainger and Craig Berkmyre.
Interment will follow at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Pueblo, Colo., the daughter of Alexander and Marlene (James) Valdez.
On June 21, 1969, she was united in marriage to Joe Marx in Pueblo.
Thelma was a 1966 graduate of Pueblo Colorado High School and a homemaker who loved her family, her grandchildren and crocheting. Everyone who knew Thelma called her “Grandma” and she was a volunteer for the Chilhowee R-4 and Leeton R-10 School Districts. She was a member of the Harvest Fellowship Church in Warrensburg.
Thelma is survived by her husband Joe; one daughter, Cathy Berkmyre of Leeton; her mother, Marlene Collins of Pueblo, Colo.; two grandchildren, Dakota and Cheyenne Berkmyre, both of Leeton; one brother, Ron Valdez of Pueblo, Colo.; and one sister, Debbie Bratton of Pueblo, Colo.; and her ex son in-law, Craig Berkmyre of Thornton, Colo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grandchildren Education Fund, with checks made payable to Joe Marx, and can be left at the funeral home.
