Warrensburg man hurt after train strikes his vehicle

(JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo., digitalBURG) – A Warrensburg man is in serious condition after the car he was driving was struck by a westbound Amtrak train Saturday afternoon.
Ronald H. Nielsen, 52, was transported by air ambulance to Research Medical center after the accident, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
The accident occurred west of Knob Noster at the railroad crossing at NE County Road 115 and U.S. 50, near Montserrat Park Road.
Nielsen failed to stop at the railroad intersection signal and was struck on the rear passenger side. Charges are pending, according to the Highway Patrol.
