The Crest Ridge girls basketball team maintained its perfect record on the season by crushing Sweet Springs 53-39 Wednesday in the I-70 Conference Tournament in Lone Jack.
Crest Ridge led 20-14 at the half. The leading scorers for Crest Ridge were Mel Branscum, 21 points, and Lily Hunter, 11 points.
“We struggled shooting the ball, but got the win because of our defense,” said coach Katie Woolsey. “Kaitlyn Francy had a great defensive game and Mel Branscum kept us going offensively. I’m very pleased with how the girls are playing hard and playing together.”
Crest Ridge will play Wellington Saturday in the tournament.
