Larry Neil McDaniel

Larry Neil McDaniel, 75, died Monday, Dec. 3 in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
A celebration of life will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Silent Unity Chapel at Unity Village, Mo.
He was born on April 26, 1937, to Robert Isaac and Mary Fay (Luthye) McDaniel. Larry grew up in Topeka, Kan., and attended Seaman High School. He was an only child. While in high school, he worked at the WIBW TV station. After graduation, Larry worked at Cappers Publication and, in his spare time, he formed a five-piece band called Larry McDaniel and the High Fives. Larry served his country in the Army National Guard as chief warrant officer in meteorology.
Larry married Ruth Ann Barney on Nov. 14, 1959 in Topeka and had three children, Barbara Elaine, Suzanne Kay and twin brother James Benjamin. Living in Topeka, the couple had a printing business and later a pizza restaurant. Moving to Wamego, Kan., Larry went to work at Balderson Inc. as marketing manager. He later moved to Kansas City, Mo., to work for Standard Havens and then moved to Holden, Mo. He also worked for Constable Hodgins, which later became Greystone Graphics. Larry retired in 2000.
Larry married Paddi Petty on Aug. 15, 1992 and they moved to Lee’s Summit in 2000. He then went to work at Unity Village in the telephone prayer ministry.
Larry had a zest for life and a great sense of humor. He had many adventures in his life, including piloting a hot air balloon and biodynamic farming on Thunderhill Farm.
Larry is survived by his wife, Paddi, of the home; his children, Barb Blauw (John), Jim McDaniel (Glenda), and Suzanne Fischer; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Benjamin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The National Kidney Foundation Inc.
