(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Old Drum Open Mic will have its next performance Thursday, Sept. 7, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Java Junction in downtown Warrensburg.  The showcase event is free and open to the public.

Warrensburg educator, Aaron Conklin, recently participated in a poetry marathon, writing verse to an hourly prompt over one 24-hour period.  He will share a few of the resulting pieces, “Dancing Shadow,” “Hemophiliac” and “The Wordless Lament” at the Open Mic. Also appearing that night will be crooner, Phil Wagner, who will present a sing-along to a favorite folk tune.
Benton County resident, Deb Noland, is scheduled to deliver a short, non-fiction piece titled “One Star.”  Scott Umphrey has a new observation reading called “Really?”  Jo Narron will sing two original songs and Henry Yeager will provide a short reading.
Others interested in presenting at the Open Mic on Sept. 7 can schedule through the Old Drum Open Mic Facebook page or by e-mailing Mark Pearce at [email protected]
