(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG.com) — Spotlight will host a “super” Fun Before Finals event this year.

Students can literally turn into a superhero by participating in the costume contest or by standing behind the superhero cardboard cut-out 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at this semester’s Fun Before Finals event in the Elliott Student Union.

Scout Miller, Mules After Dark coordinator, said the event is superhero themed, focusing mainly on comic book publishers Marvel and DC.

Miller said the event will have a variety of activities for students, with plenty of opportunities to win prizes.

“There’s a costume contest, so if you come dressed as a superhero there’s a chance to win a prize,” she said. “You can win tickets, and the tickets will let you win prize packs.”

In addition to the superhero cut-out photo opportunity, Spotlight will also have two photo booths. One will look like a phone booth, the other a jail cell.

Miller said Spotlight is putting a lot of work into the event so students can enjoy a night of stress-free fun.

“It’s a fun way to win prizes, meet some people if you feel the need to, just have fun and hangout, not have to worry about the stress of school or anything else,” she said. “It’s a nice little night before you have to go back to the big kid world and then pack and go home.”

Emily Bergsieker, assistant director of student activities, said the event will also have a sword throw, hulk throw, laser maze, caricature artists and two inflatables. There will also be an 18-foot slide and high striker at the event, as well as a trivia contest.

“There’s a lot of activities going and I’m hoping there’s a little bit for everybody with all the different things they have going on,” Bergsieker said.

Bergsieker said her favorite thing about Fun Before Finals is the variety of students who come and participate in the event and being able to offer fun activities for students so they can de-stress and finish the semester strong.
