Suspect killed after breaking into St. Charles County home

(ST. CHARLES, Mo., AP) — A man suspected of a home invasion in suburban St. Louis has been fatally shot during a fight with the homeowner and his son.
The homeowner and son were shot but survived.
Police were called to a St. Charles County home near Interstate 70 before 4 a.m. Monday and found all three men in the backyard. Authorities say the suspect was armed with two handguns when he entered the home and confronted a man who was asleep.
The father came to the aid of his son. The altercation between the father and the gunman moved into the backyard, where another son joined the fight. It was during that three-way scuffle that all three were shot.
The son originally confronted by the gunman was not involved in the shooting.
