(ST. CHARLES, Mo., AP) — A St. Louis man is accused of dragging a police officer with his car — the second time in four years he’s faced similar charges.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1N2R8n9 ) reports that 26-year-old Devin McNeal-Smith, arrested last week in St. Charles, is jailed on assault and resisting arrest charges.
A similar charge four years ago in St. Louis County was later dropped.
Police say that in both instances, McNeal-Smith tried to drive away during an arrest, briefly dragging both officers a short distance.
In the latest case, McNeal-Smith was stopped for alleged crimes in St. Ann. Police say the suspect grabbed the officer’s arm and backed the car up, dragging the officer until the car hit a parked vehicle.
Officers in both instances escaped serious injury.
