Tony Curtis Burgess

Tony Curtis Burgess, 58, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Wednesday, June 3, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Deacon Joe LeMay officiating. Pallbearers will be Chuck Gillman, Mark E. Burgess, Dave Bedgood, Terry Kopczynski, Brandon Rau, Gene Chambliss, Kevin Figley and Bryan Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bedgood, Jordan Bedgood and Carolyn Burgess.
Interment will follow at Knob Noster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the funeral home.
He was born April 19, 1957, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of Walker and Luella (Johnson) Burgess Jr.
He was united in marriage to Crystal Utterback on Nov. 11, 1978, in Anniston, Alabama.
Tony was a graduate of Wellborn High School in Anniston, class of 1975. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 21 years with the rank of tech sergeant. Tony then worked in the civil service personnel office at Whiteman Air Force Base for several more years until his retirement.
Tony is survived by his wife Crystal; one son, Mark Alan Burgess, of Diamond, Missouri; one daughter, Mellisa Anne Bedgood, and husband, Dave, of Knob Noster; two sisters, Martha Figley, and husband, Bill, of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Mary Chambliss and husband, Tex, of Star City, Arkansas; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carolyn McGathy and Evelyn Gladden; and one brother, Mark Burgess.
 
Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hope Lodge and can be left in care of the funeral home.
