LaVance Taylor signs with Ottawa REDBLACKS of the CFL

(OTTAWA) — Central Missouri All-American running back LaVance Taylor has signed a contract with the Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League as announced by the team on Wednesday.
Taylor was a First Team All-MIAA selection for the Mules this season and received All-America honors from four different publications. He led the conference and was third in NCAA Division II with a UCM single-season record 1,918 rushing yards to go along with 15 touchdowns. He also led the Mules in pass receptions with 38 for 427 yards and two touchdowns and he tied Central Missouri’s career record with his third kickoff return for a touchdown early in the 2014 season.
He set the Mules’ single-season all-purpose yards record with 2,618 and his 218.2 all-purpose yards per game was tops in NCAA-II. He also set a new UCM career all-purpose yardage record with 6,231 career all-purpose yards. He finished his career second all-time at Central Missouri with 3,941 rushing yards.
The Raytown, Missouri native becomes the sixth UCM player under Jim Svoboda to sign a professional contract.
